ECC Girls Basketball Finals Results
On Tuesday night, the ECC held their annual girls basketball tournament at Mohegan Sun Casino. At 6:00PM, the ECC DII finalists took the court. The matchup was between #5 Stonington High School and #2 Windham High School. Even though Stonington was the lower seeded team, they’d pulled off a great run beating #4 St. Bernard and #1 Lyman Memorial, both by double digits. While Stonington was having a magical run, Windham was putting together an impressive run beating Griswold and Plainfield. Stoningtons magical run continued as the were able to knock off the Whippets winning 40-31.
Following Stoningtons win, #1 New London and #3 Ledyard took the court for the ECC DI finals. New London has been an absolute powerhouse this season and the continued in the tournament as they picked up wins over Woodstock Academy 74-30 and Fitch 59-50. Ledyard took down Killingly by 18 and then Bacon Academy by 3 to reach the finals. New London proved why they’re one of the ECCs best as they put their foot on the gas and didn’t let up beating the Colonels 65-39.
