CHSCA Boys' Hockey Player of the Week, Sheehan Boys' Basketball Fundraiser, Coach Pattison steps down.
The weekend is approaching fast, but the NFP Sports team is still hard at work. This week has been a fun one as we’re kicking off Rocky Hill High School lacrosse to run a Beef Octane beef jerky fundraiser in addition to running the Sheehan High School boys basketball fundraiser where they’re selling the Greater Wallingford Pizza Madness card.
CHSCA Boys’ Hockey Player of the Week
Last week, Owen Pazzaglia of the Eastern Connecticut Eagles won CHSCA Boys’ Hockey Player of the Week after he netted 1 goal and tallied 3 assists in a 6-3 win over SGWL.
This week, we have four new players from schools across the state of Connecticut that you can vote for on CHSCA.org.
Representing the CCC is Reid Anastacio from Simsbury who netted 2 goals and added 2 assists in a 6-1 win over East Catholic. He tacked on 2 more assists in a 4-2 Trojans win over South Windsor. For the FCIAC, James Kohm of Farfield Warde-Ludlowe notched 1 goal and 1 assist in a 3-1 win over New Canaan. Maxx Corradi from Woodstock Academy is representing the Nutmeg Conference after he netted a whopping 8 goals in a 10-0 win against SGWL. For the SCC/SWC, Blake Baksay of Fairfield Prep totaled 2 goals and 4 assists over two games.
The Boys’ Hockey Player of the Week award is sponsored by Hamden Sports Center and Cheshire Sports Center. You can vote on the winner at CHSCA.org now! Voting closes at 8:00PM this evening so make sure you get your votes in as soon as possible.
Sheehan Boys’ Basketball Is Selling the Greater Wallingford Pizza Madness Card
In Mondays News Blast, we highlighted the Greater Wallingford Pizza Madness Card and mentioned how there are four more versions of the card coming out for different parts of the state in the near future with Greater Enfield, Greater Manchester, Greater Southington and the Quiet Corner. The Sheehan High School Boys’ Basketball team is selling the Greater Wallingford Pizza Madness Card this winter as a fundraiser and if you’d like to support them, you can purchase one of the cards HERE.
The Sheehan boys basketball team, as of January 21st, was 2-9 and looking to turn things around with about half the season remaining. The Titans recently underwent a coaching change after Joe Gaetano retired after 27 seasons coaching at Sheehan. The coach who has taken over is Coach John Wodatch. The hiring of Wodatch is a familiar one as he’s been an assistant on the Titans staff for seven seasons prior.
Sheehan is in the very competitive SCC conference. In an article from CT Insider written by Joe Morelli, Wodatch stated “The SCC is really, for my money, the toughest basketball conference in the state from top to bottom.”
Again, if you’d like to support the Sheehan Titans boys basketball team, you can purchase a Greater Wallingford Pizza Madness Card HERE.
Coach Pattison Steps Down At Newtown High School
In yesterdays newsletter, we wrote about the multiple football head coaching vacancies around the state of Connecticut. Between now and that newsletter going up yesterday, Newtown High School football head coach Bobby Pattison stepped down. In an article written by The Newtown Bee, it states that one of the main reasons for Pattison stepping down is because his family is expecting their second child. In the article written by Andy Hutchison, Pattison said “Ultimately, what I needed to do is find more of a balance. Our family’s growing. We’re expecting our second child at the end of March,”. He also added “I needed to take a step back and football’s a year-round thing.”
I spoke with former Nighthawk linebacker Jack Mulligan who graduated in 2020 about Pattison stepping down. Mulligan stated “Pattison is a great coach and an even better person.” He also added “He’s (Pattison) had a great impact on everyone he crossed paths with, both on and off the field.”
Pattison teaches history and economic at NHS and took over as head coach of the Nighthawks in 2017 and won the 2019 Class LL State Championship.
